Iran halts production of some cars

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 12

By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

The production of Pride 132 cars was halted in Iran last week and 10 days earlier than it was planned, executive director of Iran's Saipa car manufacturer Javad Suleymani said.

Suleymani made the remarks at the meeting in Iran dedicated to Roham car production, Trend reports referring to the company’s website.

The representatives of Saipa company, startup companies and spare parts manufacturers attended the meeting.

“In accordance with the program, the production of Pride 111 and Pride 131 cars will be halted within the next few months,” Suleymani added.

“The production of Roham cars will begin in 2021 (beginning on March 21, 2021), about 70,000 cars will be produced in 2021 and about 100,000 cars in 2022,” the executive director said.

“Saipa intends to use the potential available in Iran for the production of Roham cars,” Suleymani said. “At present, about 92 percent of spare parts of this car are produced domestically.”

“As for the remaining eight percent, the company is ready to cooperate with local producers and startup companies in this sphere,” the executive director said.

“Despite all the problems and restrictions (the US sanctions against Iran and an increase in the price of car parts as a result of devaluation), Saipa increased the production volume of cars by 2,000 a day,” Suleymani said.

“Two new cars will be put up for sale next Iranian year (beginning on March 21, 2020) while five new cars in 2021 and 2022," the executive director said.
