Head of Iran-Turkey Joint Chamber of Commerce discusses trade relations

TEHRAN, Iran, Dec. 25

Trend:

The head of the Iran-Turkey Joint Chamber of Commerce avoided explaining the details of the recent agreement between the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade and the Minister of Trade of Turkey on the import of goods in exchange for blocked Iranian money in Turkey.

"Importing goods in exchange for blocked money is in the interest of our country, but during the US sanctions era, in which new sanctions are imposed on the country every day, make the details of these kinds of agreement public may be to the detriment of the country," the head of the Iran-Turkey Joint Chamber of Commerce, Mehrdad Saadat Dehghan, told Trend.

"Our effort is to find ways to solve the country's problems," he said adding that there are several ways.

"It is not that no one wants to work with us in economic and commercial issues," he said. "The other countries have no problem with the Iranian private sector at all, and we still do business. But this business should not be so noisy because it will end up to our detriment."

Referring to the latest agreement between Iran and Turkey he says that this kind of agreement will have a positive effect on providing raw materials for Iranian production units.

"Economic relations with Turkey are not as we expect due to various reasons, but a bright future in Iran-Turkey trade relations is expected," he said. "We have come to the conclusion that we need Turkey as a strategic country and that we will continue our interactions."

On December 17, The Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade of Iran asked the Minister of Trade of Turkey to use the way for our country to use its banking resources with Turkish banks to buy the required goods directly through Turkey or through Turkish companies through other countries.

Referring to Iran's banking resources in Turkish banks, Alireza Razm Hosseini said that "We want to use Iran's resources in Turkish banks to buy the items we need such as wheat, corn, soybean meal, oilseeds, and crude oil," IRNA reported.
