Iran's knowledge-based companies flourish, pushed by restrictions

The head of the Center for Strategic Technologies of the Vice-Presidential office for Science and Technology Dr. Esmaiel Qaderifar announced that the US sanctions and the coronavirus outbreak have increased the penetration rate of innovation in Iran, Trend reports via Mehr News Agency.

"The last Iranian year (ended on March 21) was a year of sanctions with severe pressure on the people, and it became worse due to COVID-19 outbreak, but we can say that last year was the year of knowledge-based companies, they've flourished,” Qaderifar said.

He pointed out that by the end of last Iranian year (ended on March 21), the number of knowledge-based companies in Iran has exceeded 5,700.”

Regarding the sales the knowledge-based companies, he said that "last year, these companies earned over $42 billion in sales.”

Referring to the big steps taken by these companies in the field of commercialization, Qaderifar said that "last Iranian year (ended on March 21), the knowledge-based companies entered the large industrial enterprises market.”

“The 25 to 30 percent share of domestic companies in designing, manufacturing, and supplying subway train parts has increased to 85 percent during the last Iranian year (ended on March 21),” he said adding that this figure shows the achievements over the past year.

He added that Iran is witnessing a leap in production by the knowledge-based companies.

He anticipated that the current year will be even more prosperous for innovative and creative knowledge-based companies.
