Iran expected to increase oil output - Vienna Energy Research Group

TEHRAN, Iran, Apr.21

Trend:

The current data from Iran's oil wells indicate readiness to produce 3.8 million barrels of oil per day which was the official output level in 2016, said the president of Vienna Energy Research Group.

Although most of the oil wells in Iran are in their second half of life expectancy, therefore, it should not be expected that production capacity has serious increase, said Fereydon Barkeshli, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"Oil industry needs new oil fields, the gas injection projects are generally done with delay due to high gas consumption, there is readiness for producing oil-based on official quota level," he added.

Barkeshli went on to say that the experts in the National Iranian Oil Company have good performance but the oil industry is an international activity so works do not proceed in isolation, therefore, technology and investment are the main requirements of Iran's oil industry.

"I think we should spend time on new oil reservoirs, while there is news of new oil fields discovery there is no news of operating new oil fields. Our experts are familiar with operating current oilfields and it is necessary that they are modernized," the president of the group stressed.
