Despite all the obstacles caused by Coronavirus and sanctions, the production of detergent and hygiene products is sufficient in the country and some companies have even exported to the US, Canada, and Europe, Iran's Cosmetic and Hygienic Products board of directors Bakhtiar Alambeigi said.

"Despite production difficulties last year due to the coronavirus and the continuation of sanctions, the detergent, and hygiene production raised by 10 last Iranian year (ended on March 21, 2020)," Iran's Cosmetic and Hygienic Products' board of directors Bakhtiar Alambeigi said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

“The number of exports of cosmetic and beauty products reached $117 million by the end of December 2019,” he said referring to the latest statistics. "The export of cosmetic products in recent years has been as high as $1 billion, but sanctions have reduced exports in recent years.”

He went on to say that although Iranian companies, in addition to neighboring and the CIS countries, have also been able to export their products to the US, Canadian, and EU markets, sanctions restrictions have made it difficult for them to get their money back.

He went on to say that in the last two years, we have witnessed the presence of several foreign companies from Germany, Turkey, and the Netherlands in Iran to build factories and produce various products jointly or independently.

"Now there is a cosmetics production capacity equal to 2 times the country's consumption, but everything depends on the supply of raw materials at reasonable prices,” he added.

Alam Beigi added that these issues were raised in the recent meetings with the Minister of Industry, Mines, and Trade.

“The Minister promised to solve these problems,” he said.
