The French would be the first to request returning to Iran's market, if the JCPOA agreement is reached, and the US sanctions against Iran are lifted, the head of Iran-France Joint Chamber of Commerce Mehdi Miremadi told Trend.

"There were almost no trade relations between Iran and France in the last Iranian year (started March 20,2020), since is no bank to carry out financial transactions," Miremadi said.

"However if the JCPOA agreement reaches a result and the US lifts sanctions, naturally the French would be the first, who would want to return to Iran," he said.

"French manufacturer companies Renault and Peugeot made large investments in Iran. Renault Pars has office in Tehran, so if we want to attract investment in the country, we can't overlook countries that left Iran during sanctions," Miremadi said, referring to claims that after sanctions are lifted Iran shouldn't pay attention to co-operation with companies that left Iran during sanctions.

Miremadi believes that since both Renault and Peugeot made investments in Iran, naturally they would be interested in returning to the Islamic Republic.

"I think that the new Iranian government would be rational, and not claim that anyone who left during sanctions, wouldn't be allowed to return," Miremadi said.

"The total trade between Iran and France last Iranian year (started March 20,2020) was €100 million, Renault exported small amount of auto parts (valued between €1 million to €2 million) to Iran," he said.

"The French are waiting for the implementation of the JCPOA agreement and the lift of sanctions," Miremadi said.
