TEHRAN, Iran, June 8
Trend:
Iran's foreign trade during the first two months of the current Iranian year (started March 21,2021) has increased by 1.5 times, compared to the preceding Iranian year (started March 20,2020)," said Iran's Minister of Economic Affairs Farhad Dejpasand, Trend reports via ILNA.
"Iran has experienced positive economic growth in the last Iranian year despite sanctions and COVID-19, and we could move forward based on the achieved results," said Dejpasand.
"Non-oil export in the last Iranian year (started March 20,2020) surpassed the predictions, and reached $35 billion," he said.
"Import of goods, including basic materials, during this period had little decline and reached $38 billion," he said.
Dejpasand said there were certain concerns in the private sector regarding the increase of taxes, but the government didn't go for it.
"We increased the public costs due to COVID-19, but we didn't borrow any money from the Central Bank and we didn't raise taxes. The government sold its owned properties and assets in the last Iranian year, and our income was six-times more than in 2019. So the private sector didn't feel any pressure," he explained.
