The CEO of the National Petrochemical Company of Iran announced the operation of the GTPP Islamabad-e Gharb Project as the first development project of the National Petrochemical Company by 2024.
During a visit to the implementation process of the GTPP Islamabad-e-Gharb project, Behzad Mohammadi says that this project is the first national project in the petrochemical industry which its chain develops from natural gas to propylene and polypropylene, Trend reports citing SHANA.
He said that the executive operation of the project has three stages; First the natural gas conversion into methanol, then to propylene, and finally to polypropylene.
He announced an investment of $545 million.
“Iran now has an annual production capacity of about one million tons of propylene,” he said adding that the country needs 4 million tons of propylene per year.
