Iran's export and import increases

TEHRAN, Iran, Aug.10

Trend:

Iran's export during the first four months of the current Iranian year (started March 21,2021) had a 65-percent increase in value and 32-percent increase in import, compared to same period of the previous Iranian year (started March 20,2020), said the head of Iran Export Confederation Mohammad Lahouti, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"Statistics show that increase of export was partly due to reopening of borders with Iraq and Afghanistan," said Lahouti.

"About 85 percent of imported commodities were basic material and intermediary commodities. The increase of import would help boost production and export but strengthening exports depends on decisions and foreign currency policies regarding the return of export revenues," he said.

"Iran's export and import markets are the same, except that India is no longer in the TOP-10, Turkey took over its spot. Although the effect of sanctions was obviously a factor in India's falling out," said the official.
