Iran's Omid Entrepreneurship Fund to finance renovation of taxi fleet in Tehran

The Tehran Omid Entrepreneurship Fund director announced that 10,000 taxis in Tehran province will be renovated in the next year and a half for $214 million funding.

"The Omid Entrepreneurship Fund is to support small and medium-sized jobs,” Farhad Hakimnia said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

He went on to say that the Omid Entrepreneurship Fund has signed 50 memorandums of understanding with various executive bodies to pay credits to applicants.

“In 2020, 4,087 employment cases have been funded by $50 million,” Hakimnia noted.

"The per capita employment credit for small businesses is $12,000 to $16,000," he said adding that this figure in large industries is estimated at more than $357,000.

Regarding the Fund's efforts in modernizing the public transport fleet, Hakimnia stressed that the fund has planned to modernize public transport in Tehran, based on which, a tripartite memorandum has been signed between the fund, the municipality, and the Planning and Budget Organization.

"According to this memorandum, 10,000 taxis must be renovated in one to one and a half years,” he added. “ Total 4,271 taxis have been renovated in the last two years."
