Iran hikes spending on local mining explorations

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 11. About 40 trillion rials ($952 million) were spent on mining explorations in Iran during 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024), Ahmad Fattahi from the country's Mines and Mining Industry Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) said, Trend reports.

According to him, in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023) this figure totaled 12.3 trillion rials (about $292 million), which is growth of more than three times.

The official pointed out that during the 10 months of the current year, reconnaissance excavations covered 467,000 square meters, compared to 300,000 hectares last year.

Besides, Fattahi said that within 10 months, investigations on prospecting operations in the country of 36,739 square kilometers have been completed.

Additionally, the mineral reserves in Iran are more than 50 billion tons. Average production from mines in Iran is more than 400 million tons per year.
