BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 11. Funds amounting to 55 trillion rials (about $1.3 billion) were expended on the Manjil-Rudbar section of the Rasht-Qazvin highway in Gilan province, located in the north of Iran, Trend reports.
According to information, an event was organized on the occasion of the commissioning of this section of the highway. Iranian Vice President Mohsen Mansouri, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash, and other officials attended the event.
The length of the Manjil-Rudbar section of the Rasht-Qazvin highway is 8.2 kilometers.
This section of the Rasht-Qazvin highway was considered the toughest among the country's road construction projects in terms of the number of tunnels and bridges. Due to the difficult terrain, this highway was under construction for many years.
To note, the length of Iran's Rasht-Qazvin highway is 165 kilometers. The foundation of this highway was laid in 2001. It was put into operation in 2009 and cost 4 trillion rials (about $95.2 million), except for the highway section of the Rudbar residential area. The foundation of the residential section of the highway was laid in 2011 and cost 3.1 trillion rials (about $73.8 million).
