BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 12. Imports of products from Russia increased by 22.9 percent in value and 52.4 percent in weight in the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through February 19, 2024) compared to the same period last year, the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.
According to statistics, during 11 months, Iran received 3.18 million tons worth $1.6 billion from Russia.
At the same time, for the same period last year Iran received from Russia 2.09 million tons worth $1.3 billion.
The statistics add that during 11 months, Iran imported from Russia mainly wood and lumber, agricultural products, various equipment, and other things.
The information said that in the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (January 21-February 19, 2024), Iranian imports from Russia amounted to about 162,000 tons worth $131 million.
To note, according to the statistics of Iran's customs administration, Iran imported about 35.8 million tons of products worth about $59.9 billion during 11 months. Iranian imports increased by 11.1 percent in value terms and by 6.4 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.
Iran's importation of products mainly focuses on importing necessary goods that the country needs and imposes certain restrictions on the importation of domestically produced goods into the country.
