Iran's economy shows positive trends with increasing GDP

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 16. Iran's GDP (gross domestic product) value increased by 37.6 percent in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through December 21, 2023), if crude oil is counted, compared to the same period last year, the statistics of Iran's Central Bank said, Trend reports.

According to the statistics, the value of GDP for 9 months, including crude oil, amounted to 104 quadrillion rials (about $2.48 trillion) in current prices. However, in the same period last year, the figure was about 75.8 quadrillion rials (about $1.8 trillion).

Additionally, it is reported that the Central Bank of Iran announced the GDP statistics in both current prices and 7-year-old prices (from March 21, 2015 through March 20, 2016), which are considered an index for the country. The information includes present prices.

Statistics indicate that the value of Iran's GDP excluding crude oil amounted to 95.3 quadrillion rials (about $2.27 trillion) in nine months. Excluding crude oil, the GDP value increased by 43.4 percent compared to the same period last year. In the same period last year, excluding crude oil, the value of GDP was 66.5 quadrillion rials (about $1.58 trillion).

Based on statistics, GDP in the oil and gas extraction sector decreased by 3.7 percent in the first nine months of this year compared to the first nine months of last year. The agricultural sector grew by 38.6 percent, the mining sector increased by 37.2 percent, the industrial sector rose by 35.6 percent, the energy sector (electricity, water, and gas) by 19.2 percent, and the service sector by 49.2 percent.
