BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. The loading of crude oil and oil products in Iranian ports increased by 26.9 percent for the 12th month of last year (from February 20 through March 19, 2024) compared to the same month of the previous year (February 21–March 20, 2023), the statistics of the Iranian Ports and Seas Organization said, Trend reports.
According to the statistics, 4.9 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products were loaded and unloaded in Iran's ports in 12 months. 2.65 million tons of oil and oil products were loaded, and 2.25 million tons of oil and oil products were unloaded. Loaded products increased by 38.6 percent compared to last year's month, while unloaded products increased by 15.4 percent.
Statistics indicate that 13.8 million tons of products were loaded and unloaded at Iran's ports for 12 months. 7.97 million tons of products were loaded, and 5.85 million tons were unloaded. The volume of shipped-discharged products in Iran's ports increased by 19.6 percent compared to the same month last year.
The information notes that about 2.29 million tons of essential products were immersed and unloaded during the month mentioned. Out of it, about 226.000 tons were loaded and unloaded, or 2.06 million tons.
The data adds that about 817.000 tons of steel products were loaded and unloaded in the 12th month. Of these, 680.000 tons were loaded, and about 137.000 tons were unloaded.
A total of 3.41 million tons of construction materials and mining products were handled and unloaded in the 12th month. Of these, 3.27 million tons were handled, and about 142.000 tons were unloaded.
Meanwhile, 74,600 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports for the 12th month. Of them, 13,600 tons were loaded, and 61,000 tons of products were unloaded.
Based on statistics, about 368,000 tons of chemicals were shipped and unloaded for the 12th month. Of it, about 299,000 tons were loaded, and about 69,000 tons were unloaded.
The information adds that for the 12th month, about 81,900 tons
of leather, garments, fibers, paper, and wood materials were loaded
and unloaded. Of these, 1,970 tons were shipped, and about 79,900
tons were unloaded.
Within the month mentioned, 19,000 tons of small and other assorted
products were submerged and unloaded. Subsequently, they shipped
5,740 tons and discharged 13,300 tons of product.
"For the 12th month, 1.85 million tons of containerized products were handled and offloaded. Of them, 822,000 tons were loaded and about 1.03 million tons were unloaded," the statistics say.
A total of 7.11 million tons of products were exported and 3.11 million tons of products were imported through Iranian ports for the 12th month.
In the mentioned month, the statistics point out that 616,000 tons of products were loaded at Iranian ports for transit purposes, and 384,000 tons of products were unloaded.
Stats add that about 152,000 tons of products were loaded for cabotage purposes, and 1.95 million tons of products were unloaded. Also for transshipment purposes, 83,600 tons of products were uploaded and 81,000 tons of products were unloaded.
Additionally, the statistics noted that 9,560 tons of products were handled for other purposes, and about 322,000 tons of products were unloaded.
To note, the current throughput capacity of Iranian ports is more than 285 million tons. Iran is taking steps to increase the ports' capacity to 500 million tons.
