Iran's non-oil trade with OIC members grows

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 9. Iran's non-oil trade with 56 member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation amounted to 94.6 million tons worth $61 billion in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), Iran's Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance and Director General of Iran's Customs Administration, Mohammad Rezvanifar said, Trend reports.

According to him, compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2022), Iran's non-oil trade turnover with member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation increased by 0.19 percent in value terms and decreased by 4.22 percent in weight terms).

Rezvanifar added that Iran's non-oil exports to the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation amounted to $29 billion last year. This is 11 percent less in value terms compared to the previous year.

The official stated that Iran imported $32 billion worth of products from member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation last year. The import of the products increased by 13 percent compared to the previous year.

The deputy minister noted that the population of the member countries of the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation accounts for 24 percent of the world's population. Among the members of this organization, Iran's biggest trading partners are the UAE, Türkiye, Iraq, Pakistan, Oman, Oman, Afghanistan, Malaysia and Indonesia.

"Last year, Iran exported non-oil products mainly to Iraq, the UAE, Türkiye, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Oman, Oman, Indonesia, and Azerbaijan among the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Iran imported products from the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation mainly from the UAE, Türkiye, Oman, Pakistan, Malaysia, Iraq, Uzbekistan and Indonesia last year," he noted.

Iran's trade turnover (imports and exports) amounted to more than $153 billion last Iranian year. Compared to the previous year, trade turnover increased by 2.6 percent.
