BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 10. The export of non-oil products exported through Iran's Western Azerbaijan Customs Province, located in the northwestern part of the country, increased by 50 percent in value and 23 percent in weight in the last Iranian year (from March 21 2023, through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), the data of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.
A total of 2.6 million tons of non-oil products worth $1.29 billion were exported to Iran through the customs of Western Azerbaijan Province last year.
The export of non-oil products through the customs of Iran's Western Azerbaijan Province registered with other customs in Iran last year amounted to 2.73 million tons worth $2.55 billion. Compared to the previous year, it decreased by 24 percent in value terms and 18 percent in weight terms.
To note, if an export of a product is registered at one customs office in Iran and duty is paid, it is registered as an export of the product through that customs office and is not registered as an export from other customs offices, even though other customs offices are used to export out of the country.
Meanwhile, according to the statistics of the Iranian Customs Administration, the country's exports of non-oil products in the last Iranian year amounted to more than 136 million tons worth $49.3 billion. Compared to the previous year, Iran's non-oil exports decreased by 8.87 percent in value terms and increased by 9.82 percent in weight terms.
However, according to the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration, the country's product imports in the last Iranian year amounted to 39 million tons worth approximately $66.3 billion. Product imports increased by 9.77 percent in value and 4.39 percent in weight compared to the previous year.
