BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 2. The exports of non-oil products from Iran's northwestern East Azerbaijan Province increased by 46 percent in value and 61 percent in weight in the first three months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through June 20, 2024), compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through June 21, 2023), Sadegh Namdar, controller of customs in Iran's East Azerbaijan Province said, Trend reports.
According to him, 1.05 million tons of non-oil products worth $497 million were exported from East Azerbaijan Province in three months.
Namdar said the exported products mainly consisted of steel, petrochemical products, rubber products, fruits, and copper. These products were primarily exported to Türkiye, Armenia, Iraq, Georgia, and Azerbaijan.
The customs officer mentioned that 140,000 tons of products worth $409 million were imported to East Azerbaijan Province in three months. The import of products increased by 15 percent in value and 30 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.
He emphasized that imported products include automobiles and spare parts, red meat, production equipment, tobacco, wood, lumber, and more. These products were mainly imported from Türkiye, the UAE, China, Germany, and Spain.
To note, Iran's non-oil exports amounted to $13.5 billion in the first three months of the current Iranian year.
