Iranian top official: Economic, security and nuclear issues will be discussed in Istanbul

Iran and the 'Six' international mediators will discuss the issues of economy, security and nuclear enrichment, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran  (AEOI) and Acting Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi was quoted as saying by the Isna news agency.

The groups have held discussions on these issues and are following the matters that are of interest of both sides.

Another round of talks on the Iranian nuclear issue ended in Geneva on Dec. 6-7. Deputy Foreign Ministers of Russia, the United States, Great Britain, China, France, Germany and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton also attended the talks. The result of talks was an agreement to continue the consultations in late January in Istanbul.

Regarding the discussions being attended by Salehi, as earlier reported by media, Salehi refuted the claim, saying that he as the AEOI head had a role in the country's decision over the nuclear issue, "but I will not attend the upcoming talks." Iranian Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Saeed Jalili is engaaged in these issues, he added.
