Iran vows million-dollar aid for SESAME project

Iran pledges to pay 5 million dollars for SESAME project.

Iran's commitment came at the special meeting of the International Centre for Synchrotron-Light for Experimental Science Applications in the Middle East (SESAME) attended by representatives from Iran and other member states in Jordan, ISNA reported.

Iran has made conditions to pay one million dollar every year for 5 years for the projects to advance.

The country has called for giving facilities for training its experts and receiving visa in return for the financial help.

It also said that its aid should be only used for providing facilities.

Iranian Deputy Minister of Science for Research and Technology Mohammad Mehdi Nejad-Nouri and the Iranian new representative to the organization Agha-Miri took part in the meeting.

The conference aimed at investigation of five-million dollar help by member states for scientific advance in the project.

Representatives from Iran, Jordan, Palestine, Turkey as well as the Chief of SESAME Executive Council from Britain, UNESCO representative and two experts from Zionist regime joined the meeting.

Bahrain was excluded from the council since it had refused to pay dues for three years or answer the council's letters.

Pakistan called for his due to be exempted in 2010 due to flooding in the country. Its request was accepted by the members.

Egypt was absent due to recent indigenous developments and Cyprus has not been taking part actively in the sessions.

The annual dues set for any country is some 300,000 dollars.

SESAME project deals with employment of a Synchrotron device in a region to be launched in Jordan through regional cooperation.

Development projects including founding of its building complex is completed and some projects used to be in Germany were transferred to the center.

Some other devices are being built by experts of member states including Iran. The center is expected to be run in 2015 if everything goes based on the schedule.
