Remaining members of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) should stand against the US unilateralism, said Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for political affairs.

"The joint commission meeting of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has special importance due to the US attempt to resume the United Nations Security Council resolution against Iran that would dismantle JCPOA, " said Abbas Araghchi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The Iranian official arrived in Vienna on Monday to attend the sixteenth joint meeting of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) also known as the Iran nuclear deal that includes P4+1 deputies.

"There would be a serious discussion about the US efforts in the joint meeting and we hope the members of the meeting would follow the path and reach a mutual decision in regards to confronting the US actions that aimed to break-up the deal," he said.

"The joint meeting takes place every three months but it was delayed due to Coronavirus pandemic, we hope member countries would continue their position on the JCPOA and we would have a constructive discussion and reach conclusive results," he added.

Araghchi has held bilateral meetings with other delegations and Austrian Foreign Minister, Alexander Schallenberg. He is expected to meet the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Raphael Grossi, after the joint meeting.
