TEHRAN, Iran, Feb.28
Trend:
Iran's possible agreement in Vienna would resume uranium enrichment
back to its previous stage, former head of Iran Atomic Energy
Organization (IAEO) Fereydoon Abbasi told Trend.
"If the other side complies with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of
Action (JCPOA) duties, then Iran would comply with its
commitments," he said.
Abbasi pointed out that Iran's nuclear negotiating team traveled
to Vienna to have the sanctions lifted, not to discuss nuclear
issues.
"The nuclear activities were discussed in 2015, and led to the
agreement. So the discussion about the subject is over," he
noted.
Abbasi indicated that Iran reduced its commitments to the JCPOA,
since the other side failed to fulfill its promises.
"If sanctions are lifted, Iran will return to its commitments and work to limit its nuclear activities. If the Vienna negotiations reach a conclusion, Iran's uranium enrichment will be reduced back to less than 5 percent, based on the JCPOA agreement," he said.
