Iranian president calls nuclear deal beginning of more victories

Tehran, Iran, Aug. 19

The nuclear victory was a beginning for other multiple, constant victories, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said.

Speaking in a meeting with governor-generals from all provinces of Iran, Rouhani praised the nuclear deal as the outcome of efforts to conduct healthy relations with the world.

The Islamic Republic never backed down from its principal objectives, he said, IRNA news agency reported August 19.

The first and greatest victory to be gained from the deal was reaching national unity, he said.

"Our approach is still to conduct constructive relations with the world and help spread peace and refrain from violating others' rights," the president asserted.

"The Islamic Republic's approach is to deal with all international conflicts through dialogue."

Iran and the six powers forming the group 5+1 (the US, UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany) reached a comprehensive deal on the Islamic Republic's nuclear program on July 14.

Iranian as well as Western officials have called the deal a chance to try working together to tackle regional crises.
