By Fatih Karimov – Trend:

The US should implement what it has accepted as a multilateral international commitment under the nuclear deal with Iran, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said.

Zarif made the remarks commenting on Republican Donald Trump's victory at US presidential election, Iran’s state-run IRINN TV reported Nov. 9.

Zarif further said that anyone who takes office in the US as president, has to understand the realities of today's world.

He further said that Iran doesn’t interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.

"This is the choice of the United States’ people," Zarif said of the US election results.

Tehran has no political ties with Washington, but the US is duty-bound to implement the nuclear deal, the Iranian diplomat said.

On the other hand Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Bahram Qasemi, said that the Islamic Republic has had bitter experience with Washington’s policies in the past.

"What is important for us is the performance of the future US administration," he added.

The P5+1 (China, France, Russia, the UK, the US as well as Germany) reached a historic deal with Iran last year to curb the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program in return for lifting the nuclear related sanctions. The deal came into force in January.

Trump has severely criticized the nuclear deal during his presidential campaign.

He has said that would rip up the Iran nuclear deal, which was aimed at curbing the nation's ability to acquire nuclear arms.

"The nuclear deal puts Iran, the number one state sponsor of radical Islamic terrorism, on a path to nuclear weapons," Trump said in one of his convention speeches.
