At least one person has been killed following last night’s protests in Iran's southern province of Fars, Iranian media outlets reported.
Semi-official Fars news agency reported that one person was killed and six others were injured in “suspicious gathering” in Kazerun city.
The agency's report said the gathering was organized through a Telegram channel, and protesters set fire to a police station nearby.
Kazeroun has been the scene of peaceful protests in last two months after the government declared a plan to divide Kazerun County into two smaller counties.
Recently, Iranian First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri and local officials announced that the plan has been cancelled, but the protests continued in the city.
According to Iranian media outlets, some people have been detained during the last night protests.
Earlier in January widespread protests over the economic situation erupted in the country, which soon turned into anti-government demonstrations.
