Tehran, Iran, Oct.11

Trend:

Mehdi Karbasian, the chairman of the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), resigned on Thursday, Fars news agency reported.

According to the report, Karbasian quit his post as the head of IMIDRO after a new legislation on retired employees was ratified by the country.
The important new retirement law, approved by the Guardian Council and enacted by the Iranian parliament, could effectively put an end to the decades-long practice of the re-employment of some government workers upon their retirement.
Karbasian announced his resignation during a recent meeting in Tehran with IMIDRO’s senior officials.
He added that Ardeshir Sa'ad Mohammadi, the deputy of IMIDRO Mines and Mining Industries Development, will replace him temporarily.
IMIDRO is a major state-owned holding company active in the mining sector in Iran. IMIDRO has 8 major companies and 55 operational subsidiaries active in steel, aluminum, copper, cement and mineral exploitation fields.
