The advisor to the Supreme Leader of Iran Ali Larijani held a meeting with South Korean Prime Minister Chung Sye-Kyun today on Monday, April 12.

"Our resources should be released as soon as possible to prevent the adverse effect on the bilateral relations,” Ali Larijani said during the meeting with South Korean PM in Tehran, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.

While welcoming the Prime Minister of South Korea, Larijani raised the issue of the development of relations between the two countries in various fields.

The Prime Minister of South Korea, while expressing his satisfaction with the meeting with Larijani, promised to find a solution for the release of Iranian resources by the Korean government as soon as possible.

He also stressed the need to develop long-term relations between the two countries. The future of diplomatic and financial relations between Iran and South Korea is at stake as Prime Minister Chung Sye-Kyun visits Tehran for three days of talks.

South Korea has for years froze at least $7 billion of Iranian money in its banks as it fears falling afoul of harsh economic sanctions the United States started unilaterally imposing on Iran in 2018
