Police seize 90 kg of opium, meth at Tehran airport

The police seized over 90 kilograms of opium and meth (methamphetamine) at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport over the last fiscal year (which ended March 20).

The seized drugs included 81.42 kilograms of opium, 8.258 kilograms of meth, 15 grams of heroin, and 9,188 psychedelic pills, IRIB news agency reported April 26.

During the one year period, 3,422,692 outgoing packages were inspected using x-ray equipment.

According to the most recent international statistics, in the first quarter of 2017 Iran’s customs administration was one of the most active ones in fighting goods and drugs smuggling.
