Iranian Deputy Minister of Health explained the latest status of studies on new coronavirus potential treatment in Iran and said that soon new drugs will enter the study phase of Iran.
"Due to the ineffectiveness of antiviral drugs for the treatment of coronavirus patients, studies have been conducted both in Iran and in the world to find the new medicines,” Deputy Minister of Health Reza Malek Zadeh said, Trend reports citing IRNA.
He went on to say that “One of the drugs that have been proposed is Famotidine."
The Deputy Minister said that more than 6 drugs are currently being considered by specialists, which are under review, and some of them will probably be used.
“The study plan states that infected people should be treated by these drugs so that their disease does not progress and they do not need to be hospitalized. Studies have been published but there is no effective treatment for coronavirus and the issue of plasma therapy is still under investigation,” he said of the results of plasma therapy studies for the treatment of coronavirus patients.
Malekzadeh emphasized that "The most effective treatments are the prevention of infection. People should try not to get infected by wearing masks and keeping social distance"
The Deputy Minister of Health explained the Iranian research on mutation and mutation of coronavirus.
"In Iran, a lot of research has been done on the mutation of the Coronavirus and it has been determined that the first type found in Iran was the same type of Chinese Wuhan virus with milder infection. About two months ago, the coronavirus that had mutated in Europe and Italy entered Iran, and the majority of those who become infected with this type of coronavirus, became more contagious,” he said.
Malekzadeh added that “The disease has become much more severe and the virus has spread more."
