Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akber Salehi said the country is ready to hold negations with Europe.

"Iran wants to eliminate existing problems and improve relations with the EU," Salehi said at the conference "Iran-EU relations: Previous experiences, future perspectives", iribnews reported.

He said issues and conflicts between Iran and Europe should be clearly studied.

"One cannot turn a blind eye on these conflicts," he stressed.

According to Salehi, there is a great potential to change the existing situation between Iran and Europe.

"There is no reason to worsen relations because of the issues that can be solved," he stressed.

He said Iran is ready to partake in the negations in terms of using potential in the development of bilateral relations and eliminating misunderstandings, as well as seeking joint spheres for cooperation.

In mid-September, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Saeed Jalili sent a letter to the European Union's foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton with a proposal to begin new talks on Iran's nuclear program.

The last round of negotiations on Iran's nuclear program took place in January 2011 in Istanbul.
