Caucasus Muslims Office head: If freedom of religion transcends, human rights are violated

Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov. 14 / Trend M. Aliyev /

The relations between the state and religion are at a good level in Azerbaijan. This is reflected in the world, head of the Caucasus Muslims Office Sheikulislam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade said at the international conference 'Freedom of Religion and Belief: legal, political and social aspects' at the Institute for Human Rights of the National Academy of Sciences today.

"Each nation has its own traditions and customs, so it is necessary to move in accordance with them," he added. "Freedom of conscience and religion also has its limits. If one passes through these limits, the rights of other people are violated in society. So, the religious groups must operate in accordance with these rules. We are not against other religions and have good relations with them."

He added that Azerbaijan is developing an area of religious freedom as in all other areas. In general, Azerbaijan can be an example of tolerance in the world.
