In the first quarter of 2010, the Public budget income comprised 2446.2 million manats, or 25.6 percent of GDP. This index decreased by 3 percent, compared to the same period in 2009.
Public budget expenditures decreased by 15.7 percent and made up 1979.1 million manat (20.7 percent of the GDP). The surpluses of the budget totaled 467.1 million manat (8.9 percent of GDP).
The Taxes Ministry remitted 41.3 percent of all income, or 1009.5 million manat to the Public budget. The State Customs Committee remitted 205.4 million manat (with a special weight of 8.4 percent) in taxes and duties to the public budget and other sources- 1231.3 million manat (50.3 percent).
In this period a total of 437.5 million manats was obtained from VAT, or 17.9 percent of all income, 366.3 million manat (15 percent) - profit taxes, 130 million manats (5.3 percent) - income taxes, 121.9 million manat (5 percent) - excise taxes, 21.9 million manats (0.9 percent) - property taxes, and 32.4 million manats (1.3 percent) -royalties and 56.5 million manat (2.3 percent) -taxes from foreign economic activities.
In January -February 2010, the public budget expense for social security and provision of people comprised 342 million manats (with a weight of 17.3 percent), 239.2 million manat (12.1 percent) was spent on education, 60 million (3 percent) - health, 125.8 million (6.4 percent) - maintenance of prosecutor bodies, security and law-enforcement and court bodies, 707.6 million (35.8 percent)- investment allocations, 28.7 million (1.5 percent) - housing and communal services, 59 million (3 percent) - agriculture, fishing, 7.1 million manat (0.4 percent)- transport and communications, and 37.5 percent (742.1 million manats) of Public expenses were spent on the payment of salaries, pension and allowances.
