Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was officially welcomed Monday in front of the residence of the President of Uzbekistan.
A ceremonial guard of honor was lined up in honor of the Azerbaijan leader Uzbek President Islam Karimov welcomed his Azerbaijani counterpart in front of the residence.

Some 1,152 candidates for parliament have applied to district electoral commissions, 1,092 have received a subscription list from the Central Election Commission, and 200 have already filled them out and submitted them to the CEC, CEC chairman Mazahir Panahov said Monday at a meeting of the committee.
The foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) at the annual meeting in New York condemned the aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan and called for the resolution of the conflict on the basis of respect for the territorial integrity and inviolability of the internationally recognized borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The OSCE expects parliamentary elections to be held in November in Azerbaijan to be democratic to demonstrate that the country is moving forward on its international commitments to develop a democratic society, Ambassador Audrey Glover, head of the observer mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), said at a press conference in Baku.

Member of Parliament Guler Ahmedova is standing for election on the list of the ruling New Azerbaijan party, she told Trend, adding that she normally respects the decision of the party about the constituency she will represent.
The ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) considers the union of the opposition Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP) and the Musavat Party to be meaningless.

Sept. 28, the Armenian Armed Forces opened fire at the Azerbaijani troops from positions in the nameless heights in the Berd region of Armenia to the Azerbaijani troops outside the Kokhanebi village in the Tovuz region at 13.10-13.40, from positions in the nameless heights in the Goranboy region at 06.30-06.50, from positions outside the Goyarkh village in the Tartar region at 06.45-07.00, from positions in the nameless heights in the Jabrayil region at 22.25-22.30, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported.
