The total production in all spheres of crop production fell by 14.2 percent, but animal production rose 5.2 percent in January-August 2010 compared to the same period of last year, in Azerbaijan. As a whole, the agricultural production declined by 6.8 percent in January-August.
As of Sept. 1, 1,856,700 tons of grain (19.9 tons per hectare) were harvested from the territory of 935,100 hectares, or 975,100 tons less than the same period of last year.

In addition to grain, 650,700 tons (with a decline of 3.3 per cent) of potatoes, 930,500 tons (-1.4 percent) of vegetables, 375.500 tons (+4.3 percent) of melons were harvested.
During this period, 380,200 tons of green tea leaf, which is 20 percent more than the first eight months of 2009, were have been collected from the tea plantations.

The total production cost of agricultural, forestry and fishery products on the actual cost amounted to 2.406 billion manat, which is 3.81 percent less than the same period of the last year. The cost of goods for the period totaled 920,100 manat compared to 899,500 manat manat last year, fishery - 60,600 manat compared to 91,900 manat in 2009.
