If the pressure on Iran with sanctions continues to intensify, and this process goes on, then the country will exit the NPT agreement, member of Iranian parliament's national security committee, Nozar Shafie said, Mehr reported.

On Thursday, Iranian officials held talks with the IAEA representatives in Tehran, which, according to later published reports, were constructive.

"We were told that the negotiations were constructive, however the joy and optimism of the parties should be in line with reality, not just diplomatic compliments," Shafie said.

Shafie also said that the long-lasting nuclear talks between Iran and IAEA did not yield any results not because of the matter's complexity, but because of lack of will to resolve the necessary issues.

"Iran has clearly stated that every misunderstanding could be resolved through negotiations, and the parties need to be going in this direction," Shafie noted.

"During the past 10 years Iran has been trying to build confidence for the West, which eventually refused it. Lack of trust at negotiations can completely ruin them," Shafie noted. "We hope that Iran will not be forced to exit the negotiations".

Washington and its Western allies accuse Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons under the cover of a civilian nuclear program, while they have never presented any corroborative evidence to substantiate their allegations. Iran denies the charges and insists that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.

Tehran stresses that the country has always pursued a civilian path to provide power to the growing number of Iranian population, whose fossil fuel would eventually run dry.
