Turkey runs for presidency in OECD’s Ministerial Council

Turkey is running for presidency in Ministerial Council of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development for 2012, Deputy Prime Minister for the Turkish Economic Affairs Ali Babajan told reporters today, Anadolu agency reported.

Turkey is running for presidency in Ministerial Council of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development for 2012, Deputy Prime Minister for the Turkish Economic Affairs Ali Babajan told reporters today, Anadolu agency reported.

In 2011, the Ministerial Council was chaired by U.S.

According to Babajan, Turkey, as a country with a steadily growing economy, can successfully preside the OECD.

"Turkey is the only country in OECD which does not interfere in banking sector of the country." Babajan said.

OECD is an international organization of 34 countries founded in 1961 to stimulate economic progress and world trade. The mission of the Organization is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.
