BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 10. The US Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya will visit the South Caucasus (Georgia and Armenia) from July 9–17, 2024, Trend reports via the State Department.
According to the State Department, during the visit, the issues of democratic governance, anti-corruption, media freedom, and freedom of expression will be discussed.
In Georgia, Zeya will meet with representatives of the government, civil society, media, and parliament.
She will also emphasize unwavering US support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Georgian people’s commitment to Euro-Atlantic integration, and assistance to Georgia over 32 years of partnership.
Additionally, she will reiterate the importance of free and fair elections and a vibrant civil society.
In Armenia, Zeya will meet with senior government officials and civil society representatives to discuss strengthening the US-Armenia partnership.
