Three Armenian presidential candidates call for exclusion of administrative resources

Armenian presidential candidates, Hrant Bagratyan, Paruyr Hayrikyan and Raffi Hovannisyan, have issued a joint statement, Mediamax agency reported.

'We believe it is necessary to publish the lists of citizens residing outside the country who are deprived of the right to vote in violation of the Constitution. We believe that the list of people that have been out of the country for more than 180 days during a year, but whose names are on the electoral lists must be provided for at the polls. This is to prevent cases of voting instead of citizens that are not in the country', the statement said.

The statement also notes that all candidates, including the incumbent President of Armenia, should commit to stop using administrative resources for their campaign.

The sixth Armenian presidential election will be held Feb. 18 from 08:00 to 20:00 local time. The head of state is elected for five years.

Those running for the presidency are the incumbent president and ruling Republican Party leader Serzh Sargsyan, former Prime Minister Grant Bagratyan, chairman of the Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisyan, Paruyr Hayrikyan, Arman Melikyan, Andreas Ghukasyan, Vardan Setrakyan and the leader of the National Accord Party Aram Harutyunyan.
