Armenian authorities ignored the public opinion while deciding to join Customs Union, according to the head of Hay Dat's (Armenian court) Central Office and Political Affairs Office of Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaksutyun) Kiro Manoyan, News Armenia reported.
On Tuesday, as a result of negotiations between Armenian and Russian presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin, Armenia's intention to join the Customs Union and subsequently participate in the formation of a Eurasian Economic Union was declared.
"This was a manifestation of the policy of ignoring public opinion. I believe that the authorities today should explain why this decision was adopted so quickly. It was necessary not only to hold public discussion, but also to listen to the opinions of political forces," Manoyan told journalists on Friday.
According to him, the wave of public protest in Armenia would be lower if the authorities would have carried out relevant preliminary work.
