Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC intends to submit a claim to the country's Public Services Regulatory Commission to increase the tariffs for electricity, Armenia's epress.am website reported citing the Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper.
The tariffs can increase from the current 38 drams to 45 drams per kilowatt, according to the newspaper.
Currently, the company purchases energy from thermal power plants at a price higher than envisaged by the current tariff. As a result, the tariff's structure changed and the Electric Networks of Armenia accumulated tens of millions of dollars in debts.
The official exchange rate of Armenian Central Bank for May 7 is 413.76 AMD/USD
