"The president actually gave a legitimate color to the demand of part of the nation, proposing to give resignation through the elections," Ramaz Sakvarelidze, a Georgian political expert, told Trend.
"In this way Saakashvli appeal the nation for confidence.
The political expert said that the international background was very hard, because critics on the President's activities were addressed by the side of leaders of different countries, as well as the international. "Saakashvili is young and will hardly want to conclude his career as a person who launched gas to Europe," he said.
Sakvarelidze stressed that by his way Saakashvili wants to achieve favorable positioning of democratic forces in Europe.
Moreover, through this decision President Saakashvili increased his chances for retaining the presidency. "Over two months the opposition will hardly present a bright opponent for the current President and into take consideration that 5 January is the New Year day, I do not think the many voters to participate in these elections and it will benefit Saakashvili," Sakvarelidze said.
