Georgia Materials 8 January 2008 15:04 (UTC +04:00)

Georgia, Tbilisi /corr. N. Kirtskhalia/ On 8 January United Opposition of Georgia gave up the idea to hold a demonstration on Rike Square. This decision was adopted in a long-lasting meeting of the Coordination Council, a source in Levan Gachecheladzeh's Pre-Election Headquarter reported.

The opposition aims at contending itself with the juridical methods of the struggle for its votes for the moment. Mikhail Saakhashvili collected 41% of the votes which is not sufficient for a final victory.

"We intend to redress injustice through bringing lawsuits, we have approximately 1,000 lawsuits and on the basis of these facts, Saakhashvili's percentage of votes will be reduced and we will secure the second round of elections" said Tina Khidasheli, one of opposition leaders.
