Deter Borden Bids Farewell to Acting President of Georgia

Georgia, Tbilisi/corr. Trend N. Kirtskhalia/ Deter Borden, the head of the Mission of Observes of OSCE is leaving Tbilisi today.

Commenting to journalists after visiting the acting President of Georgia Nino Burjanadzeh. "I thanked him for the confidence that the acting President showed towards me and for his assistance during the presidential elections," he said.

Borden stressed that the presidential elections in Georgia took place under normal conditions. He thanked the mass media representatives for their active work and added that he had fulfilled his mission in Georgia.

Several days ago a scandal occurred connected with Borden in which a German paper Frankfurter Rundshau published an interview in which it was stated that Borden assessed the election in Georgia as false in many respects. Later the head of the OSCE observers were called to the Foreign Office of Georgia for an explanation. Borden refuted these allegations stating that the journalist distorted his words.
