Majority of Surveyed Georgian Population Oppose Re-elections of President

Georgia, Tbilisi, 17 March / Trend corr N. Kirtskhalia/ The majority of the Georgian population surveyed oppose the presidential re-elections in Georgia. Some 48.3% of the surveyed 424 readers of the Kviris Palitra weekly newspaper opposed the re-elections.

The representatives of the Unified Opposition which are on hunger-strike in front of the Georgian Parliament demand that the elections be repeated. The hunger-strike has involved 67 people, including several opposition leaders. They believe that the results of the presidential elections held on 5 January were false.

Only 28% of the people surveyed would want the elections to be re-held and 23.7% failed to give an comment.
