Kazakhstan, Astana / Trend corr. K.Konirova / The situation in Abkhazia on regulation of Georgian-Abkhaz conflict is a cause for concern, Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General, stated to journalists in Moscow on 10 April.

Ban Ki-moon confirmed that the issue was discussed during the meeting with the Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

"UN should play the role of mediator in solution of the conflict," he noted.

UN Secretary General said that he did not discuss the issue on peacemakers during the meeting. "The issue should be touched upon by UN. CIS peacemakers support peace in the region so far and I hope that they will manage to regulate the state in the region," he stated. Pan Ki-moon said he would discuss settlement of Georgian-Abkhaz conflict with Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister.
