Georgia, Tbilisi / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia / Javier Solana, the Senior Commissar of the European Union on Foreign Policy and Security Issues, visits the self-proclaimed Republic of Abkhazia on 6 June, within the framework of his visit to Georgia. During the visit, Solana will also meet with the separatist leaders of Sukhumi.
Previously Solana had said that he would attempt to persuade local authorities to restore the negotiation process, as there is no analogue for dialogue in the regulation process.
Meanwhile, Sergey Bagapsh, Leader of Abkhazian separatists, stated that in spite of the visit of such high ranking guest, Sukhumi would not launch any sort of negotiations with Tbilisi until the withdrawal of its military forces from the Kodor ravine.
