Georgia-U.S. Strategic Partnership Council will meet in Washington today, the Georgian Interior Ministry said. Georgia and U.S. will design action plan as a part of the Strategic Partnership Charter signed in January.

"The U.S. is our reliable partner and this partnership continues for many years. It is a country that has played a big role in destroying the empire of evil and has always provided us with assistance in building a free and democratic country, as in case of the Baltic countries," First Deputy Foreign Minister Giga Bokeriya said earlier.

The deputy minister stressed that "Georgia hopes that it will become a member of NATO and the EU with the help of the U.S like the Baltic countries."

He said that the meeting between Clinton and Vashadze "will mark a new stage in relations between two countries."
