A huge 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Republic of Georgia, northwest of the capital Tbilisi on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

A huge 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Republic of Georgia, northwest of the capital Tbilisi on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, according to Reuters.

The quake was 6.2 miles (10 km) deep and the epicenter was located 50 miles (80 km) northeast of Kutaisi, Georgia, the USGS said.

The USGS had earlier reported the quake was 6.3 magnitude.
