Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili congratulated Georgian Muslims in connection with Eid al-Adha. He made a special visit to Tbilisi mosque in this respect where Muslims and Tbilisi and Batumi muftis gathered.

The mosque majority were Azerbaijanis in Tbilisi, and they welcomed Mikhail Saakashvili. They wished him peace and development of the country.

In turn, the Georgian president said that the festival of Eid al-Adha is a national holiday. "The whole Georgia celebrates this holiday because holiday of each part of our population is a national holiday, and today we celebrate this holiday together with our Muslim brothers, our fellow citizens," he said.

Saakashvili said that a model of tolerance to different religions for him is king David the Builder, who prayed in Orthodox churches, mosques and synagogues. "We have done a lot since the Rose Revolution in order to unite our society, in spite of religion and nationality, and today I can say that we have a nation-wide unity in the presence and development of all national minorities and their languages, and this is especially evident in young people who are united now", he said.
