Georgia will announce an amnesty on the eve of Giorgoba, which the country celebrates on November 23 in honor of Saint Giorgi.

The Pardon Commission under the Georgian President will meet on November 18, Committee Member Elena Tevdoradze said to Trend

"We have received cases of convicts who were offered amnesty. They are people who have committed minor crimes as well as severe and moderate. We must consider all appeals, and the commission will decide who can be pardoned," she said.

Tevdoradze said 300 applications for pardons, including applications from 44 women and 11 minors, has been received. They are accompanied by recommendations of the management of prisons and colonies.

The Commission will make a decision and send recommendations to Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili for approval. Georgian Patriarchate will send its proposals for presidential pardons separately from the Commission.
